China’s energy weakness will lose the New Cold War.

Sorry folks; I do not subscribe to Asia Times Premium and so cannot show you the article in full.

But what it doesreveal should be enough. The USA is so close to oil self-sufficiency that it does not matter. China is not and while its landborne deliveries of oil and gas (i.e. from Russia) seem secure its seaborne deliveries are not.

A caution here. The USA once upon a time attempted to oil embargo another rogue east Asian power (in cahoots with Great Britain) and the consequence was Pearl Harbour and a hot war with Imperial Japan.

and that rogue East Asian power is now a thriving, prosperous, pacifist democracy, being forced to re-arm because of China and its vassal North Korea..
