Thailand and China

Post by Jim the Moron » Mon Jul 05, 2021 8:25 pm

"The new Chinese dynasty and the coming conflict"
https://thaienquirer.com/29434/opinion- ... -conflict/

Coumtries such as Thailand that are continuing to be pulled into debt traps due to their poor corrupt gpvernance may survive a major conflict. Here's a Thai who believes Thailand can be on the winning side, and profit.

I read the article carefully but could not find other than promise of growing resistance any mention of winning or profit on the side opposing China.
While china is facing a substantial internal demographic challenge and opposition abroad to it's expansionist policies, it is unclear where and how it might fail.
I'd rather be diving or flying alas for now I am on terra firma.

The only people in Thailand that will profit from China's influence are the corrupt generals that run the place.

This can be clearly evidenced by one example - their preference for the Sinovac vaccine that costs five times more than Western equivalents and was procured under contract by one of the country's billionaire oligarchs and friend to the junta.

Thanks Jim!

I thought the article philosopically summed up the situation well.

The unanswered question that came to my mind however is "what is the Thai government doing to add to the (alleged, global) resistence?"

It's true Sinovac is more expensive, but only twice as expensive as the Moderna one. But yours is a valid comment...

Sinovac has also been proven to be ineffective. There are several reports from both Thailand and Indonesia about fatalities from Covid infections after having two shots of Sinovac. But of course the Chinese and Thai governments will do their best to cover this up.

Never were truer words spoken DA.

Socialists accuse capitalists of greed but at least apart from enterprises owned and run by crooks businessmen make their money in ways that are benefical to society at large. But any tyrant ruler can shake the populace down in ways that confer no benefit at all.

Indeed.

This is where trying to emulate China gets you ...

How could a country with Thailand's potential screw up so badly?
