Googled this up in response to a leader today on Whatfinger claiming that Margaret Chase Smith is the only woman who was elected to and served in both houses of Congress.

Much is being made, and rightly so, of the rank hypocrisy of Sen. Blumenthal (Conn.) in his questioning the veracity of the SCOTUS nominee. But, he was elected in his home state, in spite of lying regarding serving in Vietnam. People in that state are at least consistent, considering that they supported Hillary "evaded sniper fire" Clinton in 2016.

Could it be that folks in Illinois possess more common sense? Not likely, as most of their governors seem to end up in prison. But there is this. In 2016 it was revealed that the incumbent Sen. Kirk fibbed regarding being shot at over the ME. His opponent Tammy Duckworth obviously had legit service creds. It wasn't close.

I've got a hunch that as July approaches we're going to be hearing more about the Senator. Her politics and integrity are quite similar to Rep Gabbard's; however, for some reason Tammy hasn't managed to antagonize the corrupt DNC to the extent that Tulsi has.

Moderators - maybe this shouldn't be in Foo, where I had originally put it.

Interesting to me that America has had a President with such a disability but as far as I know never a VP.

The only thing military-wise Tucker would be minimally qualified for is cleaning latrines. And yes, Tammy is a real-life badass.

"A Senator Seeks To Reverse Trump-Era Policies For Deported Military Veterans"

I didn't do any research on it, but this "Trump-era pause," if true, is a serious blot on his administration. In any case, this is essential legislation.

The proposal comes in response to then-President Donald Trump's pausing in 2017 of the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest, or MANVI, program, which recruited more than 10,000 noncitizens with medical, cyber, language and other skills into the military, according to Duckworth's report. Thousands were left in limbo as a result of Trump's actions.

I remember something about this. Mostly WRT too much red tape and committing crimes.
The law currently allows certain servicemembers to apply for naturalization, but some individuals don't complete the process in time and are deported if they commit any crime. Duckworth argues that veterans who don't complete the process on time face a convoluted path to residency; if a crime is committed, she says, the path is even more arduous.

U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement issued an estimated 250 removal orders for veterans from 2013 to 2018, and deported 92 of those, Duckworth's report said. However, that number could significantly undercount the actual tally, since there isn't a widespread system to track veterans who have an ICE encounter, she said.
I don't know anything about "undercounts" However the deportations started under the Obama Admin and Duckworth is citing 2013 to 2018 Which sounds like an Obama Policy that Trump may have reversed. Which makes the headline a lie in blaming Trump.
