What does Nancy hope to achieve (apart from antagonising the PRC government)?

Perhaps it has something to do with her district being in San Francisco, where there are a lot of Chinese-Americans. If not that, then I'm not sure.

It doesn't matter at this point what Pelosi hoped to achieve She is going and probably with a lot of US military in tow. Not going sends the message that the US will not do anything to defend Taiwan.

Fair enough! But are those Sino-Americans, apart from their allegiance to the United States, Taiwan loyalists on the side? (Something like American Jews being advocates for the State of Israel?)

The only other thought I have had is that surely the PRC government would be aware that Pelosi is not visiting Taiwan as an official representative of the US government or as an advocate of foreign policy. They could not possibly be so ill-informed ignorant, could they? Then why is Beijing kicking up such a big song and dance over her coming visit?

I gather there's not a lot of sympathy for CCP oppression amongst Americans of Chinese descent.

Why? Because insecure behaviour is the Xi regime's trademark.

No. Because China may feel that the time has come for them to kick Yankee ass... Just as Russia has done in the Ukraine.

30% of San Franciscans or about 250,000 people are Chinese Americans. That’s a lot of voters. So visiting Taiwan and offending communist China can’t be offending them. Thus I conclude that they don’t like communists.

Then they invaded the wrong country, because US forces are stationed in NATO countries, not Ukraine. Whoops!

Russia troops in Kherson are now cut off from Crimea. When thousands of Russian occupiers are forced to surrender are you going to claim that it is a great victory for Russia as well?

BTW what kind of creeps threaten and harass a single mother with three daughters in a war zone?

They are not there as occupation troops either, like the former Soviet troops stationed in several of these countries previously but are there to send a clear message to Moscow "if you try to do to our countries what you are presently doing to Ukraine you will have a war with the United States on your hands".
