Should Ukraine destroy the Crimean Bridge?
Re: Should Ukraine destroy the Crimean Bridge?
Hitting such a bridge and actually disabling it is much more than drawing a line on a map.
Furthermore, if you look at the terrain in North Crimea, you’ll see that there are a number of chokepoints that inhibit the flow of supplies. I had heard that the Russian troops around Mariupol are mostly supplied by sea, because it’s difficult but it’s still easier than bringing them from Crimea, or any other way.
Crimea’s population seems to truly support Russia, unlike Donbas and company. Cutting off supplies to them might just harden that support.
So they should do it but it may not be all some think it will be.

In other words, for you destroying is better than building. Which is very much the definition of the Anglo civilization: destroying, killing, exploiting, stealing, enslaving...Milo wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 9:17 amHitting such a bridge and actually disabling it is much more than drawing a line on a map.

Nobody said that. We're talking about a bridge, not about the cities full of people that the Russian forces you praise have been destroying for months.Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 7:18 amBut their destruction is beautiful. Just the thing you guys want to see... Bombs, destruction of bridges, civilians dead, provided they are Russian...Doc wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 7:01 amBecause Russia invaded Ukraine.Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 6:56 amYou guys love destruction, any kind of destruction... Why then do you keep blaming Russia?...neverfail wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 6:05 amYes! Before the fighting began the Russians had also used the bridge to prevent Ukrainian merchant vessels from passing underneath to reach their own ports on the shoreline of the Sea of Azov. In effect they used the bridge to turn the waterway into a Russian lake. I am surprised the Ukrainian military have not done it by now. One well aimed bomb should be enough to collapse it.cassowary wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 11:58 pm
As you can see, Crimea is almost an island. It joined to the mainland by the narrow Isthmus of Perekop which is about 4 miles at its widest. Because Russian troops can be easily cut off, Putin built the Crimean bridge joining Kerch on Eastern Crimea to the Russian mainland.
This bridge allows troops, supplies and heavy weaponry to be supplied to Russian forces in Crimea. Should this bridge be destroyed?

First invading a neighboring country because you want its land is a war crime. A big one.Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 7:43 amAs long as they do not commit war crimes. But we keep seeing the Ukrainian army shelling the city of Donetsk, killing civilians and destroying buildings, not as collateral damage of some attempt at conquering the city, but deliberately to kill as many separatist civilians as possible. This is a war crime, but I have never seen any of you protesting... Meanwhile you get out your popcorn and watch all the destruction possible in the Ukraine...Doc wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 7:23 amSo you are saying that Ukrainians don't have a right to defend themselves?Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 7:18 amBut their destruction is beautiful. Massive evidence of Russia's other war crimes:

Or just take your pick Sertorio

He doesn't care. He's perfectly comfortable building a new Russian empire on Ukrainian graves.

Stop lying. I've long opposed US military interventionism, and you know it.Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 11:11 amWhile you prefer keeping an American empire consolidated on Russian - and Iraqi, Syrian, Yemeni, Venezuelan, Iranian, Lebanese - graves...SteveFoerster wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 10:53 amHe doesn't care. I humbly suggest that putting one's own virtue on parade like that is NOT the appropriate response to Sertorio's uncalled-for jibe.SteveFoerster wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 11:48 amStop lying.
