Boycotts Against China

Post by Milo » Thu Dec 09, 2021 2:58 pm

So far we have Women's Tennis Association and an Olympic diplomatic boycott by Canada, UK, NZ, Australia and the US.

Arglebargle or Fufurah?

It's a start. Ordinary people are starting to have significant antipathy towards the Xi regime.

Hi Milo.

Thanks for inagurating this discussion. May I share a funny story with you about China and boycotts?

Last Monday (or was it Tuesday? I forget!) our  ever lovable Prime Minister solemnly announced that no Australian high public official, including himself, would attend the Beijing winter Olympics. That afternoon an official spokesman for the PRC government reposted that no Australian public official had been invited to attend anyway.

(Well, that was quite a plausable reason for non-attendance by Australian officials and it tore the rug from under beloved Scott Morrison's feet by exploding the pretense that his non-attendance was  a voluntary gesture of protest. ScoMo's pitch - in line with the Biden Administration's - is that it was a protest against the PRC's human rights abuse record.)

But wait, there is more.

The following day another spokesman for the PRC foreign ministry appeared and scornfully dismissed Australia's non-attendance as inconsequential: no one would care whether Australian representatives attended or not. If that were true then why bother to invest so much energy and passion into belittling Australia?

The latest step in this farcical diplomatic melodrama came about overnight when the PRC government threatened "dire consequences" on our country for our official non-attendance - contradicting the scornful dismissal of a couple of days ago. Clearly the PRC government takes Australia's boycott gesture very seriously.

Umm, this is for non-attendance at an event for which our officials were never invited at the first place?

All of the contradictions, the overkill, reflected in the PRC response move me to conclude that somebody powerful within the PRC power structure must be very upset over the boycott and, reflecting this, the PRC foreign ministry has been floundering all over the place in reply.
..................................................................................................................................

p.s. In light of your Women's Tennis Association snub; could this not better be described as a girlcott rather than a boycott? :D

Australians must be proud of their government concern for human rights in China...

Shouldn't you be more concerned about this:

5,000 Children Killed or Injured in Yemen War

or this:

Remote overcrowding: ‘Indigenous gap won’t close’

But China is so much more interesting...

We all know you couldn't care less about kids in Yemen, other than as whataboutism to deflect from the much worse crimes committed by the regimes you fawn over.

You are wrong, of course, as usual...

My criticism is about people insisting on fantastic violations of human rights in Xinjiang, while ignoring very real violations in other places, like Yemen and Australia. Because the idea is not defending human rights but simply attacking China by all manners possible. If people really cared about human rights they wouldn't systematically ignore what is going on in Yemen, in Australia, Canada and the US... But human rights is the last thing they care about. The purpose is bashing China and Russia...

As usual, Sertorio is taking the side of one of the evil regimes. i am really convinced that Socialists/Communists are evil people.

I have a theory why this is so. Maybe people like Sertorio are full of hate for their societies because they feel that they are not getting the recognition and stature that they think they deserve. They see others doing better than them - wealthier, more respected and so on. Filled with envy, they think something must be wrong with their societies.

Their hearts are full of hatred for their own societies and wish to destroy it. So they are attracted to revolutionary ideologies such as Socialism/Communism which promises the overthrow the the capitalist system that puts them at the bottom of the totem pole. Russia and China are challenges to their societies that they hate. So they love them.

Given that the idiot elite class' heart desire is a socialist credit system that is in fact a form of communism with XiCP characteristics. A high tech system of control of people at large. I would surprised to find out the current "wokeness and disorder" in the world is driven directly by the XiCP. All part of it "total war" philosophy.

Most funny!

I am a very happy person, perfectly satisfied with what I have, and I do not give a damn about money! There is nothing and no one I envy. But I refuse the position of vassal which the US tries to impose on me and on every European. And, by the way, I do not need a religion to save me from hell...
