Another point not mentioned in this essay is that while the USA (once COVID-19 is defeated) can always boloster its existing population by taking in a new generation of immigrants that option does not seem to be open to China which has no tradition of assimlating foreign immigrants.

That new generation of immigrants in the US are very likely coming from Latin America. I wonder what the end result will be...A second version of Mexico?...

Well, the
Yanks seem convinced that regardless of where their immigrants come from they can transform them into Americans.
