But why vote for someone who wants the US to be a dictatorship like Cuba which Comrade Bernie admires. Just because he is likely to be thwarted does not take away his evil intention.
Well frankly I believe that you have stigmatized Bernie into a hate figure and from that point on allowed your fears to run away with you.

Will a President Sanders emulate Castro?

I am not the only one to fear Comrade Bernie, Neverfail. See below.

Whether President Bernie Sanders can succeed is another matter. He has to battle through a thicket of checks and balances. But why take the risk?

Their axe to grind is with the CCP. Not Bernie.

Besides, whether Bernie is dangerous or not is a matter of opinion, not fact. There is no proof yet - unless 1)he wins the Presidency and 2)turns America into a dictatorship. The chance of that is slim.

Hillary Clinton: Sanders wouldn’t be our strongest candidate

But she stops short of endorsing Biden outright.

Hillary is running for President.

Well at least we can be sure they aren't being bought off by the Chinese Communist party

It’s Time to Address Paid Chinese Disinformation in US Newspapers

On March 28, The New York Times published a paid advertising supplement primarily carrying articles by China’s official propaganda mouthpiece Xinhua. One of the articles in the eight-page insert called “International Daily,” promoted the Green New Deal, Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) socialist plan for countering climate change. Would that constitute a foreign regime trying to interfere with U.S. politics?

On March 27, The Washington Post ran similar Chinese state propaganda in a “China Watch” insert. The insert included a “Tibet Special” claiming to show the “festive atmosphere” in Tibet, where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is trying to crush traditional beliefs and culture.

Exactly! The Epoch Times essay is conjecture teased out of one particular quote Sanders is alleged to have made.

(I say "alleged" because it is still hard for me to believe that anyone who has been active in US politics as long as Bernie could have made such a foolish remark in public.)

I wonder: If Bernie is so dangerous to the USA then why has he not been arrested and put on trial by now?

The only plausible answer is that he has so far been perfectly law abiding.

Not the behavior one would expect from a would-be dictator eh?

The quote from an ex Castro prisoner is credible because it is in line with other things comrade Bernie said and did. He praised Cuba in other occasions. More disturbing to me are the volunteers in his campaign. One nearly killed Scalise and another wants to bring the gulags to America. Jurek.

Bernie Sanders cannot be trusted to respect democracy

Post by cassowary » Sun Mar 08, 2020 7:58 pm

When Bernie met Castro's American political prisoner
Bernie Sanders has reason to wish he’d never visited Alan Gross six years ago when Mr. Gross was a political prisoner in Cuba.

Mr. Sanders recently praised Fidel Castro’s literacy program but insisted that he never sympathized with the Cuban dictatorship. That’s not how Mr. Gross remembers the February day in 2014 when the Vermont senator stopped to see him during his Cuban detention.

The story is worth retelling because it goes to the heart of who Mr. Sanders is and why his bitter class-warfare rhetoric frightens even Democrats. The latter became evident in the South Carolina primary, when Mr. Sanders’s rival for the Democratic nomination, Joe Biden, made a dramatic comeback that rolled on through Super Tuesday. An endorsement of Mr. Biden by South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn was a sign of the spreading fear that Mr. Sanders’s hard-left ideology makes him unelectable in November.

Mr. Sanders has tried to refine his definition of socialism so as not to scare people. But he has two big problems. First, he hasn’t effectively distanced himself from his long admiration of the Castro regime. Second, his efforts to style himself as a peddler of benign Swedish-style socialism run headlong into the fact that the Swedes had to abandon the idea because it was wrecking their country.

Mr. Sanders’s brand of socialism makes sweeping promises of freebies that can be had only with the surrender of economic rights and of equality under the law. If the goal is to beat President Trump in November, that can’t be a good proposition.

Mr. Gross, a U.S. Agency for International Development contractor, was arrested in Cuba in 2009 and accused of spying because he was caught bringing satellite-communications hardware into the country. He maintained that he was helping a small community of Jewish Cubans connect with the Jewish diaspora. Cuba maintained that he was part of a U.S. democracy project for the island. In either case Mr. Gross, then 60, was engaged in humanitarian work.

Multiple efforts to free him from his miserable plight over more than four years had failed when three U.S. senators, including Bernie Sanders, called on him. After Mr. Sanders’s recent interview on “60 Minutes”—in which the candidate praised literacy gains under Fidel Castro—Mr. Gross felt compelled to share on Facebook a few details about that visit. He wrote that Sens. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Jon Tester of Montana, both Democrats, “sat on my right” and “Sanders, appropriately on my left. Heitkamp and Tester were very engaging, and both seemed to have a solid grasp on the realities of Cuba. Sanders did not engage much in conversation until the end of our meeting time when he said, ‘I don’t see what’s so wrong with this country.’ From my vantage point then and now, Bernie Sanders simply does not have a grasp on reality. Period.” Mr. Sanders denies the remark.

Mr. Gross is no hard-liner. In the past he has been critical of both U.S. policy toward Cuba and the Castro regime. Yet he was clearly astounded by the lack of empathy on the part of Mr. Sanders, who was apparently still clinging to Soviet ideals he held in the 1980s. The political prisoner was finally rescued by the Obama administration. In December 2014, it negotiated his release in exchange for three convicted Cuban spies serving time in the U.S.

The socialism that Mr. Sanders is hawking doesn’t replicate Cuba’s police state. But it has little respect for minority rights. America’s founders feared the tyranny of the majority and emphasized laws designed to protect the civil rights of all—including property rights.

Democrats seem worried that Mr. Sanders and his views won’t stand up to closer scrutiny. Take the myth of the Swedish socialist model as a success. It has already been debunked.

If Mr. Sanders succeeds in turning the U.S. into Sweden, Swedish author and historian Johan Norbergwrites in a January/February 2020 Cato Policy Report, it would translate into “more free trade and a more deregulated product market, no Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and the abolition of occupational licensing and minimum wage laws.” A “Swedish” America would have “to abolish taxes on property, gifts, and inheritance” and “would still have to slightly reduce its corporate tax.” Social Security would go from “defined benefits to defined contributions and introduce private accounts” and there would be “a comprehensive school voucher system where private schools get the same per‐pupil funding as public ones.”

Mr. Norberg writes that Sweden’s experiment with socialism in the 1970s “was an aberration in Sweden’s history—an aberration that almost destroyed the country.” In the early 1990s the Social Democratic Minister of Finance Kjell-Olof Feldt concluded, “That whole thing with democratic socialism was absolutely impossible. It just didn’t work. There was no other way to go than market reform.”

If Mr. Sanders were really following the Swedish model, he would be to the right of Donald Trump.
Those who support Sanders are fools who believe in his "free stuff" promises or thugs who want to turn America into a Socialist dictatorship. They saw what happened in Venezuela and want to do the same. First, pretend to be a "democratic" socialist. Then, once in power, subvert democracy from within and turn the country into a dictatorship.

As usual, Socialists lie and Sanders is no exception. Sweden and other Scandinavian countries are free market capitalist. They prosper because of capitalism and not because of Socialism. In fact, they have turned away from their flirtation with Socialism. That's why they prospered.

Danish PM in US: Denmark is not socialist
After seeing his country held up as an example in the US presidential debate, Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen used an address at Harvard to explain the Nordic model to a US audience suddenly very interested in Denmark.

Speaking at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Danish PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen told students that he had “absolutely no wish to interfere the presidential debate in the US” but nonetheless attempted to set the record straight about his country.

"I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy,” Rasmussen said.
Comrade Bernie is a liar trying to deceive the people. Socialists are the biggest liars.

Do you mean Republican Congressman Steve Scalise?

He might be a big name in the United States but where I am his name has so little resonance that the average Aussie, like yours truly, would undoubtedly ask "who is he?"

So I Googled up Scalise and this is what I got:

(Dated June 2017)
US Congressman Steve Scalise is in a critical condition after a gunman opened fire on Republican politicians during practice for a charity baseball game.

Mr Scalise, the House of Representatives Majority Whip, was among five people wounded when the man opened fire with an assault rifle and a pistol at a sports field in Alexandra, Virginia.

The shooter, identified as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Illinois, died in hospital from his wounds after a security detail returned fire at the scene.

Mr Scalise was shot in the hip and has undergone surgery. Two police officers were also among the injured.

Witness say between 50 and 100 shots were fired in the ambush.

https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/world/2 ... lise-shot/
.........on Republican politicians (plural).

Republican whip Steve Scalise was just one of a crowd targeted by a crazed gunman rather than someone who was specifically targeted for assassination. Another one of those mass shootings that are so depressingly commonplace in the USA:
This is a list of mass shootings in the United States that have occurred in 2020.[1][2] This article only includes shootings with at least four total victims, including the shooter(s). As of February 29, there has been 55 shootings that fit this criteria, resulting in 74 deaths and 199 injuries, for a total of 273 victims....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_m ... es_in_2020
...and the year 2020 is still not even 3 months old.

Now, what about the gunman?

Anti-Trump shooter

The shooter has been described as “political” and fiercely anti-Trump who had been living out of his car since March.

Hodgkinson’s brother, told the New York Times that the shooter became upset by the election of President Trump and moved to the Washington DC area “out of the blue” to protest.

Hodgkinson’s Facebook page, still available early Thursday morning (AEST), is peppered with diatribes against President Trump and Republicans.

James T Hodgkinson moved to Washington after President Trump’s election to ‘protest’.
Hodgkinson also “liked” a political cartoon that suggested Mr Scalise should be fired.

On March 22, he posted “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co”.

An acquaintance of Hodgkinson’s said the shooter campaigned for Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders during the 2016 presidential election.

Senator Sanders said he condemned the shooting “in the strongest possible terms.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_m ... es_in_2020
The article only state that the shooter "campaigned" for Sanders in 2016 and as such Hodgkinson would have been just one of thousands, possible tens of thousands, who did. It did not mean that Sanders had actually met Hodgkinson in person or even knew of his existence.

Yet the insinuation you seem to place on the incident is that an individual gunman, most likely suffering a mental health issue, who decided to take the law into his own hands (neither unknown nor -alas - even unusual in the United States) acted under orders from Bernie Sanders to conduct a targeted assassination of
the Republican House of Representatives Whip.

Cass, I humbly but earnestly suggest that you have wildly misread the situation.
