Why do you single out Venezuela? Are you under the illusion that government in other countries is not a disaster, most of the times? The problem is that we got so used to expecting governments to be disastrous that we have given up trying to elect honest, capable people. We, not the governments, are slowly killing democracy by our inability or unwillingness to make the proper choices in elections. For instance, in the US, if people really wanted to have good rulers, Tulsi Gabbard would get at least 20% in the polls instead of 2%. But the majority of Democrats flocks to the idiot Biden, as if they didn't know what he stands for. I know the main objective of the media is to confuse people, but are there so few of us who can make a right choice, even when under a barrage of propaganda, fake news and comments?...Sad, indeed...

I have not paid attention to Tulsi Gabbard precisely because her support is so Low. What does she stand for? Let me guess. She is from the extreme left, right?

In my opinion, if US democracy is working well, Trump’s approval should be 70% instead of 45%.

The problem with democracy is that 60% of the people have below average income. This means that 40% have above average income.

For democracy to work well, it should be 50-50. What this means is that Socialists have a better chance of winning since the majority benefits from wealth redistribution.

As you have seen, Socialism always lead to bankruptcy eventually and sometimes dictatorship. Exhibit one is Venezuela.

cassowary - You are correct that Tulsi Gabbard is not polling highly. That no doubt reflects on the extreme hell-bent lunge to the far left by other Dem candidates. Yes, she is a lefty on most, but not all, domestic issues. But she stands alone - both on the left and the right - on her opposition to US military adventurism overseas. It is this that attracts me to her candidacy, along with her willingness to discuss issues reasonably with all sides.

I believe that it is to her opposition to overseas adventurism that Sertorio appreciates.

Bad governments presages natural disasters; things that otherwise would be onerous and difficult become instead local or global catastrophes:

I have a certain notoriety among the lesser gods........
