One common complaint in our days is that we do not have enough sources of reliable information, and thus we are often the victims of propaganda and fake news. You may find it interesting to know how I have tried to solve this problem. My most common sources of information (tv) are the following:
- Portuguese television for local news
- CNN
- RT
- CGTN (China)
- I24 (Israel)
- Aljazeera
- Euronews
- F24 (France)
I may be wrong, but I think that the quality of my information is pretty good, and my ability to avoid being fooled is very high. I wonder how the rest of you have tried to cope with this problem.

Re: Information, Propaganda and Fake News
That's internationally diverse, at least. You might be interested in adding a few smaller scale providers,
you and our centre-left friends here might like Fair Observer, if you've never seen it: http://fairobserver.org
They don't allow comments, which is a little maddening when I want to argue with them, but still.
Anyway, other than that, my response got pretty long and I thought it might be of more general interest than just this forum, so I blogged it instead: https://stevefoerster.com/which-media-o ... orthwhile/

Dear Sertorio: I hope that you do not cling to the false impression that being well informed necessarily means being wise in judgement?Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:31 amOne common complaint in our days is that we do not have enough sources of reliable information, and thus we are often the victims of propaganda and fake news. No. But being poorly informed makes a mockery of any attempt at good judgement. Are you sure you are well informed? And are you sure the anglo fantasy of exceptionalism has not got hold of your judgement?...neverfail wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:22 pmDear Sertorio: I hope that you do not cling to the false impression that being well informed necessarily means being wise in judgement?Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:31 amOne common complaint in our days is that we do not have enough sources of reliable information, and thus we are often the victims of propaganda and fake news. It doesn't matter how much light one is getting if it's all shining through a warped lens. But one person's warp is another's correction....Sertorio wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 4:43 pmNo. But being poorly informed makes a mockery of any attempt at good judgement.
