The accusations in the article I posted are extremely well supported.
Is the NYT unable to contact law enforcement.
Obviously not.
New York City officials said on Thursday that they had joined state regulators in examining whether President Trump and his family underpaid taxes on his father’s real estate empire over several decades.

The announcement came in response to an investigation published this week in The New York Times that showed how Mr. Trump had participated in dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents.

Huh. The NYT piece is a bigger dud than I thought. Apparently whoever these government officials are didn't find anything indictable in the article, and have to start their own investigation. What a surprise.

Also of note the NYT found not a penny of Russian money, or "loan juggling". It's a rough time to be a NYT apologist or Trump conspiracy theorist.

It's virtually impossible for a politician to successfully sue for defamation.
Why so?
Because they are "public figures", who have different defamation standards in the U.S., ones that are extremely high.

If the aspersions that Mr Perfect has cast on the reputation of the New York times have substance to them and the publication is lying about the evidence it claims to hold supporting the story; would not Donald Trump (and/or one of his siblings) be right to sue the paper for defamation of character?

More to the point: would not failure to do so be an admission confirming that the published allegations are true? That Trump is NOT the self-made multi-millionaire he makes himself out to be in public but the privileged beneficiary of inherited wealth passed on down to him via a quite devious, possibly even illegal, tax avoidance scheme?

The NYT column will likely be forgotten in a week and no one will speak of it again, like several dozen other phony anti Trump stories over the last 3 years, so no.

The left just criticized Kavanaugh for too forcefully defending himself, now you are criticizing Trump for not suing over negative stories.

You guys will have to make up your minds. This is one of many reasons why you keep losing elections.

* edit Trump is a multi-billionairre.

Not that it really matters either way, but I seriously doubt it.

Of course, he won't release anything that would clarify that, so it's not like we can know.

It's mostly public information.

EIther way Trump is worth more than all the Presidents in history combined, and is worth probably more than all of congress combined.
