Once the UK is out of the EU I believe that Europe will take care of its defensive needs without being dependent on the US. As to energy, the day will come when Europe will rely solely on renewable sources. Portugal already satisfies more than 50% of its needs with renewable forms of energy. By the middle of the century renewables will be all Europe will need. By then we will be free of any undesirable dependence and will have strengthened environment protection. We will then see who is in a "precarious position"...
