Europe in a Precarious Position

"Europe is almost entirely dependent on Russian, Middle Eastern and African sources of energy."

"Europe's only maritime security is the NATO fleet -- a synonym for the U.S Navy."

"Europe refuses to develop its own gas and oil reserves, and won't fund the necessary military power to ensure that it can safely import energy from problematic or even hostile sources."

"It is hard to be both the world's largest importer of gas and oil and the loudest critic of fossil fuels, but Europe has managed to do it."

Yes, the world needs to somehow overcome this silly prejudice against nuclear energy.

We will go back to it when it is fusion nuclear energy. Not before.

Once the UK is out of the EU I believe that Europe will take care of its defensive needs without being dependent on the US. Once Europe integrates militarily and establishes a strategic understanding with Russia, we will be safe enough without the US.

As to energy, the day will come when Europe will rely solely on renewable sources. Portugal already satisfies more than 50% of its needs with renewable forms of energy. By the middle of the century renewables will be all Europe will need. By then we will be free of any undesirable dependence and will have strengthened environment protection. We will then see who is in a "precarious position"...
