Re: bumbling Donald does it again.

I have read it and responded to a discussion in the PUNDITS OF INTEREST section of this website on this very topic inaugurated by Izzy. It is just a pity that bumbling Donald spoiled his own triumph by (in effect) throwing his intelligence agencies under the bus at that joint press conference - und...

Watch what Trump does and not what he says.

China will want it back. The green, purple and orange coloured areas were taken by Russia in unequal treaties. Interesting, I didn't know the Chinese used to hold Sakhalin. After long centuries of Mongol domination, the Russians fear Asians more than Americans and certainly not the laughable Europe...

Re: David Goldman on Russia and the US

This is only the start. If Goldman is right then Trump has laid the foundations for a much more normal, indeed amicable, relationship between the US and Russia. But we must wait and see how the two leaders build upon those foundations. A lot can still go wrong. Could the Kremlin be wooed away from ...

Re: Iran: the enemy the West made for itself.

Back to the discussion. Yes, what you say is possible - another Indonesia scenario with a bloodbath of suspected communists by the religious faction. Or it could be another Afghanistan scenario. The Soviets might have backed someone ruthless to take over Iran. This might have sparked off a revoluti...

Re: David Goldman on Russia and the US

Please read. Brilliant!... http://www.atimes.com/article/trump-is-right-about-whos-to-blame-for-bad-relations-with-russia/ My view is that Putin cannot be trusted. Trump is naive to think he can get along with Putin. At most, they can only co-operate on things of common interests - like deterring C...

Re: Iran: the enemy the West made for itself.

So Ayatollah Kashani shared the Communists' assessment that Mossadegh was too weak to stop the Communists from taking power. Of course, that means Iran would have been ruled by a Communist dictatorship as in all Communist countries. As I said, it is impossible for anyone to know what would have hap...

Re: Putin's interview to Fox

Ref the indictments : "Those are internal political games of the US. Don't hold the relationship between Russia and the US hostage to this internal political struggle." It is quite clear from the Strzok-Page texts that many people in the intelligence services don’t like Trump. So can they be truste...

Re: Re:Iran: the enemy that America made.

More military spending = stronger NATO. The Europeans, being fair minded people, will ackowledge that they are not spending enough. So I don't think the resentment will last. They are supposed to spend 2% of GDP but most are not spending that, especially Germany. Together, European countries spend ...

Re: Iran: the enemy the West made for itself.

Some of the ignorant bullshit you [Cass] publish on this website frankly causes my blood temperature to rise to boiling point. Being a wine drinker, rather than a scotch one ( :D ), my blood doesn't boil that easily... I just find it amazing that a seemingly intelligent person can be so incredibly ...
