Re: The Future of the World

The US has not gone crazy. It is time to adjust to changed circumstances. The Europeans have the resources to defend themselves against a diminished Russia. European and Japanese economies have long recovered from the destruction of the war. The main threat to the future of democracy comes from China.

Re: The Future of the World

I will just say this: American power might have passed its "used by date" (I hope not, but America's overall performance since the end of the Cold war lends me no confidence): however, I do not foresee Europe as being the power that emerges to fill the vacuum. Far more likely it will be the Peoples...

Re: The Trump-Fatty Kim summit in Singapore

I have some comments on the Kim-Trump meeting, but I will not contribute to a thread with a childish designation of Chairman Kim of North Korea. Trust you to demand respect for the most loathsome dictator on Earth. Your opinion of Kim is irrelevant. What matters is what the North Koreans feel about...

Re: The woes of Italy

Having said this, I agree that the creation of the euro was premature, and Portugal would have done better to stay out of it. But once you are in, you must try to adjust to the new reality. Good. That means, “work harder, you bums.” You can start by slashing spending on your welfare state which alw...

Re: The woes of Italy

Never fail, I didn't know that. But it doesn't matter because both leaders would have experts to advise them. I think it is doable provided there is a robust mechanism for fiscal discipline. They should have a rule where no European, whether individual or corporate can buy government debt of a count...

Re: Peter Strzok: We will stop Trump from becoming President

The “conclusion” was that the he, the IG, could find no evidence that decisions made that led to the exoneration of Clinton was biased. But he, the IG, went on to say that it did not foreclose the possibly that there was none. See my earlier post giving the relevant excerpt. Not being able to find ...
