Re: Trade War

With tariffs, US manufacturers are forced to manufacture in the US and employ US workers, thus boosting their wages. That is what happened. Of course this means that consumers have to pay more for made in USA products. So you have a transfer of wealth from consumers to the workers. The cost of livi...

Re: Make Hong Kong Great Again

The latest out of Hong Kong is that Carrie Lam has backed down on the legislation; https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/politics/article/3014638/hong-kong-extradition-bill-carrie-lam-hit-pause-button But "backed down" only implies that she is looking for a more opportune time to reintroduce the same...

Re: Obama can't get no respect

FALSE Example: [Collected via e-mail, July 2009] Here is President Obama, the leader of the free world, coming out of the meeting with the Russians and no one seems to want to shake his hand. MSNBC said nothing about it but I found it amazing. Origins: This item is a testament to how easily people ...

Re: Do you know your social media credit score?

Welcome to 1984... 1984 was about the government taking over everything, this is about a private company doing what it thinks will please its shareholders. The right wing campaigned assiduously to remove any broadcast regulation but now wants standards for private companies other than them making m...

Re: June 13th Oil tanker attacks in the Gulf

I think it is not so much the type of ordinance but the capability to deliver it that makes a state actor more likely. As I have said before, I just wish we would get out of the way and let the Shias and the Sunnis settle things their own way but all the major players have too much invested in the 2...
