Predictions for 2017

Post by Booklady » Sat Dec 31, 2016 11:42 am

I'm not very good at predictions, but here's a few of mine:

1. The transition from one president to another, will be fraught with drama.

2. Michelle Obama's School Lunch Program will be repealed; children across the 50 states will be pleased.

3. College and University Libraries will replace books with coloring books and non-toxic crayons.

Every century has a terminus year by which we, dear Toto, know that we are no longer in Kansas; Kansas being the 20th century. For the 20th c. it was 1914 and for the 21st, it was 2016. Hey, it happens........

The rise of Donald Trump created the culminating crisis that indicates the western world will be in a cultural civil war and that won't mean that it can't get worse. So I'll predict by June of 2017 oppositional forces and battle fronts will be fully defined, and they will cut across demographic and ideological lines.........

I don't think any really seismic event will define 2017 - it may turn out to be a surprising meh year, confounding usual expectations. Except for the Civil War and I think those events will extract a tally in 2018, 2019........'>.........
Let's try this modelling exercise. Let's envision a world in a parallel universe somewhere let's say, where I'm right.........

I think that the epochal year of this century was more like 2001 because of how 9/11 brought the "End of History" to a swift conclusion.

Increased drama for even less reason.

By the end of 2017 I believe that more than just Americans will look back upon the Obama period as having been like a golden age in American history.
