The UK seems to want Alfie dead at any cost. Otherwise it would allow him being sent to Italy for further treatment. The trouble is that the UK is afraid the child might get better in Italy, and that would be a terrible loss of face for the British government and justice... And that may never be allowed to happen!... What is a child's life compared to the British "dignity"?...

it was suggested that Alfie could be transported to Rome's Bambino Gesu Pediatric Hospital, a Vatican hospital and the main pediatric hospital serving southern Italy, for treatment.

However, a subsequent visit to Alfie and consultation with his doctors led the Roman doctors to conclude that the child's condition is irreversible and untreatable, according to a statement from Alder Hey.

In terms of law, yes.

I thought this was about a terminally ill baby in the UK.

It is about who get to decide what is best for the lives of others. Or not.

The Hippocratic oath says "Do no harm"

What is the harm done here by giving a little boy a chance to survive no matter how remote that might be? Or more precisely what is the harm in letting the parents that love him try to save him rather than a monolithic state bureaucracy decide that the little boy cannot justify his existence? ?

In the end what it boils down to is the question: Is it government by the people for the people to serve the people? Or is it people owned by the government to live and serve at the whim of the government mob.

British Doctor Determines Baby Alfie Must Die Because His Parents Have an Attitude
Jim Hoft by Jim Hoft April 26, 2018

A British doctor tending to the sick Baby Alfie says the boy must die because his parents have an attitude.

Baby Alfie and his father. A British doctor says Alfie’s family has a attitude problem. (WND)

This is socialized medicine at its extreme.
Cruel medical administrators basing life and death decisions by the attitudes of their parents.

Democrats want this for America.
The Federalist reported:

A British doctor treating Alfie Evans told reporters off the record his parents won’t be allowed to take their child out of the hospital, even to die at home, unless there is a “sea change” in their attitude…

…A report from The Telegraph indicates the hospital staff is not interested in what’s best for Alfie, so much as proving a point to the parents, who have an “attitude” they don’t like. Here’s the revealing bit, buried in the Telegraph report:

Instead, the judge said the best Alfie’s parents could hope for was to “explore” the options of removing him from intensive care either to a ward, a hospice or his home.

But a doctor treating Alfie, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said that for Alfie to be allowed home would require a “sea change” in attitude from the child’s family, and they feared that in the “worst case” they would try to take the boy abroad.

In sum: The doctors have determined Alfie must die, and he must die in the hospital, unless the parents change their attitude.
