Possibly. But by that time, other greener sources of energy will become viable.

Possibly. But by that time, other greener sources of energy will become viable.
And/or there will be a return to greater use of nuclear power, which is surprisingly green when done competently, and is already viable.

To anticipate the objection that thorium reactors aren't a mature technology, perhaps, but clearly the time and money required to make them so would be considerably less than that for making wind, solar, or fusion competitive with fossil fuels.

What can go wrong will go wrong.

That's how we got Chernobyl, Three MIle Island and Fukushimaya. You can be very careful and put in all the precautions. The probability of failure is very low, I agree. But it is not 0%. The trouble is that radioactivity is very dangerous and lasts a long time.
