2020: turning the White House into an Oprah House.

Post by neverfail » Tue Jan 09, 2018 2:24 am

Could Oprah Winfrey knock off Donald Trump in the 2020 US presidential election?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world ... 07441.html

If she does would she make a better president than Trump?

Unlikely to both.

Can't do worst than Clinton.

I think Oprah would win handily.

She could absolutely beat Trump, and she could hardly do worse than he has.

That's not an endorsement, though, since that applies to most people.

Where do these entertainers get the idea that their real vocation in life is to be President?

Oprah has not been anything close to vetted as a POTUS candidate. Given her closeness and lack of condemnation of Harvey Weinstein seems like a lot of something just below the surface

Do you think she's grabbed someone by the pussy?

Or is it the allegations of sexual harassment in her chauvinistic beauty pageant?

Oprah was obviously "testing the waters" for public reaction during her fluff acceptance speech. Big on emotion but empty of content.

Just like darn old Trump's 2016 election campaign!

(quote) “Is there any other charismatic African-American woman that both sides of the political aisle really love?” Stephen Colbert asked after a reference to former first lady Michelle Obama, sparking a round of applause from the show's audience. (unquote)

Loved?

Very nice if a person in politics can be loved as well as respected but for most that is too big an ask. Politics is such a bruising game that anyone who becomes immersed in it cannot remain loved for very long.

Whether Oprah (or anyone else) can wrest the presidency from Trump and make a success of it once in office will depend on how much respect this lady can command - not on how ostensibly loveable she remains.

Actually Trump made a lot of very specific promises in his campaign.

The real reason Trump won the Republican Nomination is because people were fed up with years of GOPee promises that were never kept. Trump won the election because enough people felt they have been betrayed by the DC establishment and Trump was the only non DC establishment candidate.

Come 2020 Trump will have a record to run on. If he does indeed run. If not most likely Pence will be the GOP nominee and he can run on that same record.
