I want to elaborate on realism in the Middle East. It is an unfortunate fact that the Palestinian leadership since the days of the Mandate are violently opposed to a Jewish state. It all began at the time of Amin al Husseini
, the Mufti of Jerusalem and uncle of Yasser Arafat.
Soul-mate anti-Semites: Amin and Hitler
Impressed by Hitler's gas chambers, Amin requested and received help from Hitler to exterminate Jews
in Tunisia, according to the book, "Reclaiming Israel's History," by David Brog.
Today, HAMAS has carried on the mantle of Amin al Husseini. It makes no bones on their plans for genocide, citing Islamic Scriptures as justification. Take a look at the HAMAS charter.
One of the most ominous aspects of the Charter however, is this Hadith:
Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
That is the reality in the Mid East. You have a bunch of Muslims who follow a strict interpretation of Islam which does mot allow accomodation of modern sensibilities. Genocide of Jews is acceptable.
For these bunch of Muslims (not all are like that), they are in the same position as the Japanese of wWII. At that tiime, the Japanese believe that the Emperor is a god and the gods protect Japan. So they think defeat is impossible. Crashing their planes on American ships would turn them into gods. Mohammed Atta was not the first suicide pilot.
IT TOOK A RIVER OF BLOOD before the Japanese were convinced that they were on the wrong path. Defeat changed their mindset. Defeat opened their minds to new ideas. It will take the same for radical Muslims to change their minds. That is the reality.
