Re: Tax plan raises taxes on liberal states and lowers them for the rest.

When the Republicans crafted the tax reform bill, they had to ensure the budget deficit don't increase by more than $1.5 trillion over ten years. This means they must raise revenue somewhere. Better to raise it from the blue states than red states. They can't punish their voters, right? But as the ...

Re: Tax plan raises taxes on liberal states and lowers them for the rest.

Mississippi is a solidly red state. Blue states include California, New York, Massachusetts, etc. Sorry. I got th...

Re: Tax plan raises taxes on liberal states and lowers them for the rest.

This is not really a hot button issue for me, but a better argument again SALT deductions is that they mean that people who live in low tax states and municipalities tacitly subsidise those who live in high tax ones. The spending needs of different states, cities, counties and regions are very uneq...

Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

That is true. They are just temporary workers who want to return home once they have enough money. Some bought land to farm with their savings. Others started small businesses. Want to return home? Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

Very well cassowary. I will concede here that I may not have known all of the relevant facts in this case. Thanks for informing me. I do know that even though these people did not have to come to Singapore and did so in their own best interests, as guest workers they do not have the same status as S...
