Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

Very well cassowary. I will concede here that I may not have known all of the relevant facts in this case. Thanks for informing me. Thank you Neverfail. You have always been a gentleman and pleasant to talk to. I do know that even though these people did not have to come to Singapore and did so in ...

Re: Tax plan raises taxes on liberal states and lowers them for the rest.

So it's "ingenious" to use the tax code to punish entire regions that don't agree with your politics? I think it's petty and rather stupid.

Of course it's not true, so not even wrong.

Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

neverfail - What's with this incessant stream of attacks on Singapore? Could it be based on: 1. A belief that Singapore treats its migrant workers so badly vs international norms that it needs to be chastised? 2. A belief that Singaporeans are so repressed by their government that they live downtro...

Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

Singapore ranks 9th for rule of law, according to the World Justice Project, which reflects well on its courts. By the way, Canada ranks 11; Australia ranks 12 and the US ranks 18. After Muellers' witch hunt, I think US ranking is going to drop. Rule of law is essential a proper society but freedom...

Must say . . . what's with all this dumping on Singapore?
I think Cass brings this on himself with his rather smug and Manichean comments.

Re: Israel

The US just announced plans to move their embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Seems logical, considering that's where Israeli honchos are situated. But what the hell. Mouth-breathing drooling Muslim honchos are gonna show the world "3 days of rage." I was a Zionist before I knew the word. This is great...

Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

Indeed this guy is like some sort of provocateur. Now that I have overcome the computer glitch that formerly preventing me from listening to the soundtrack, yes, I can now see what cassowary means. This guy is no harmless prankster - his language is aggressively obscene. You do not even need to be ...

Re: Singapore establishment feels threatened by the exercise of democratic rights.

In the case of Amos Yee, he is a trouble-maker and most Singaporeans detest him. His offense was to insult Christians and Muslims. Here is a sample of Amos Yee's Utube offerings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmGqZBgZZqk Thanks cass. You might have guessed that I posted this link to a recent Asia...

Re: Life Under Kim Jong Un

BTW Cass, now that Singapore has an economy that is thriving, where is the development of human rights part? If anything it would appear that Singapore is going backwards in that area. "The AGC filed an application in the High Court in August to start committal proceedings against Mr Li, after he fa...
